Bhutan's clearest skies fall between mid-September and mid-November. This is a seven-night Bhutan journey built around the photographer's calendar — golden hour at Punakha Dzong, blue hour over Paro, and a guide who has carried tripods before.

After the monsoon and before the winter haze, October delivers what the rest of the year hints at — visibility from Taktsang clear to Chomolhari on the right morning, mist clearing off the Mo Chhu by eight, light that lasts at Punakha Dzong until almost six. The valleys empty enough that you can shoot a courtyard at the dzong without needing to wait.
Two nights in Paro flanking the Taktsang climb (predawn at the lookout if you choose); two in Thimphu for the National Memorial Chorten in cold morning light and the textile workshops in afternoon; two in Punakha for the dzong in three lights — morning, golden, and the long blue. We hold time aside for the photographer's most important commodity, which is permission to wait.
We match from a carefully curated network; the photographer's match has carried tripods, knows where the monks are at four in the morning, and has the relationships at three monasteries to arrange interior access at hours the casual visitor never sees. Your gear list comes back to us in advance; we plan the porters and the permits before you arrive.

The chorten at six; the school of traditional arts mid-morning; National Textile Museum in afternoon; evening market if Saturday.
Day 4
Out before sunrise for the pass; the chortens and the Himalayan range when the cloud clears. Punakha by lunch.
Day 5
Morning from the river bank; golden hour from the upper terrace; blue hour from the bridge. Long, slow dinner.
Day 6
Lobesa terraced fields at first light; long suspension bridge at dusk; one frame each, taken properly.
Day 7
Breakfast at the lodge; the guide walks you back to the terminal.
