A sample shape of the week

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Paro — settled by mid-afternoon

   Met at PBH; twenty minutes to the lodge; a handwritten note from the founder waiting in the suite; a quiet first walk along the Pa Chhu.

2. Day 2

   Paro day — Rinpung Dzong and Kyichu

   The principal dzong in morning light; the National Museum at Ta Dzong; an afternoon at Kyichu Lhakhang; an early supper.

3. Day 3

   Across to Thimphu

   The Pa Chhu valley to the capital; the National Memorial Chorten in the early evening; the Folk Heritage Museum at the right hour.

4. Day 4

   Thimphu day

   Tashichho Dzong in the late afternoon; the Buddha Dordenma on the southern ridge for dusk light; a Bhutanese-cuisine dinner with substantial paired wine.

5. Day 5

   Over Dochu La — into Punakha

   The 3,100m pass and the 108 chortens; the Druk Wangyal Lhakhang; Punakha Dzong in late-afternoon at the confluence.

6. Day 6

   Punakha day — private hot stone bath

   Chimi Lhakhang in the morning; the Mo Chhu walk; a long lunch; the private hot stone bath with traditional herbs at the lodge in the late afternoon.

7. Day 7

   Up to Phobjikha — the high valley

   Over the Lawa La; Gangtey Monastery on the ridge; the cranes in late-afternoon if the date holds.

8. Day 8

   Phobjikha day — the private dinner

   The Gangtey Nature Trail in the morning; the RSPN Crane Centre; a long quiet afternoon at the lodge; the chef-curated private dinner in the evening.

9. Day 9

   Back to Paro — Tiger's Nest the next morning

   The drive back over the passes; Kyichu Lhakhang in the afternoon; an early supper.

10. Day 10

    The Tiger's Nest — and the flight back

    The dawn climb at your pace; lunch at the cafeteria; the descent; the dawn flight back the following morning.
