A sample shape of the week

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Paro

   Met at PBH after the hub-morning Drukair; twenty minutes to the lodge; a quiet first walk along the Pa Chhu if the light holds.

2. Day 2

   Paro day — Rinpung Dzong and Kyichu

   The principal dzong in morning light; the National Museum at Ta Dzong; an afternoon at Kyichu Lhakhang.

3. Day 3

   Across to Thimphu

   The Pa Chhu valley to the capital; the National Memorial Chorten in the early evening; an unhurried supper.

4. Day 4

   Thimphu day

   Tashichho Dzong in the late afternoon; the Buddha Dordenma on the southern ridge for dusk light; a Bhutanese-cuisine dinner.

5. Day 5

   Over Dochu La — into Punakha

   The 3,100m pass; the 108 chortens; Punakha Dzong in late-afternoon at the confluence.

6. Day 6

   Punakha day

   Chimi Lhakhang in the morning; the Mo Chhu walk; a long riverside lunch; the suspension bridge in late light.

7. Day 7

   Up to Phobjikha — the high valley

   Over the Lawa La; Gangtey Monastery on the ridge; the cranes in late-afternoon if late October; the valley silence at the lodge.

8. Day 8

   Back to Paro — ahead of Taktsang

   The drive back over the passes; Kyichu Lhakhang in the afternoon; an early supper.

9. Day 9

   The Tiger's Nest — and the flight back

   The dawn climb at your pace; lunch at the cafeteria; the descent; the dawn flight back the following morning.
