Bhutan does something families with teenagers rarely encounter abroad — children meet adults who are not paid to entertain them, and find them serious about the same questions they are. The dzongs and the lhakhangs ask things of a fourteen-year-old that the average museum does not. By the third day, parents notice their kids are asking different questions at dinner.
We plan around the slowest natural pace in the party — usually a grandparent, sometimes a younger child — and pad accordingly. The Tiger's Nest climb is the day's single objective; we don't add Kyichu Lhakhang on the same afternoon. Drives are broken with stops; lunches are long; bedtimes are early. If you have a teenager, we'll find them one good walk where they're allowed to lead.
We match from a carefully curated network; family guides tend to be parents themselves, with the unusual gift of knowing when to fold children into the day's narrative and when to leave them alone. Your guide is named in the proposal before you confirm, with photographs and the family they have most recently travelled with.

Met at the airport, twenty minutes to the lodge, swims and welcomes; an early dinner so kids reset.

Easy morning to one of Bhutan's oldest temples; long, slow lunch; afternoon walk along the Pa Chhu.

School of traditional arts (children sit in on a class if a school day); the postal museum (a hit with teenagers); takin reserve before dinner.
Day 4
The pass with stops, the chortens for a walking break; Punakha by lunch; afternoon free at the lodge pool.
Day 5
Walk through the rice paddies to Chimi Lhakhang; long riverside lunch; the long bridge at dusk for the dramatic photo.
Day 6
Drive back over the pass; an early afternoon at the lodge; pre-brief for the climb if the family wants it.
Day 7
Climb at the family's own pace; a halfway lunch at the cafeteria; descent; lodge for dinner.
