A sample shape of the week

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Paro — recovery

   Met at PBH after the Drukair morning; twenty minutes to the lodge; a slow afternoon and an early supper.

2. Day 2

   Paro day — Rinpung Dzong and the museum

   The principal Paro dzong in morning light; Ta Dzong (the National Museum) in the late morning; an afternoon at Kyichu Lhakhang.

3. Day 3

   Across to Thimphu — quiet evening at the dzong

   The Pa Chhu valley to the capital; Tashichho Dzong in the late afternoon; an unhurried dinner.

4. Day 4

   Thimphu day

   The National Memorial Chorten at the early-evening prayer hour; the Folk Heritage Museum at the considered hour; an unhurried lunch with the chef.

5. Day 5

   Over Dochu La — into Punakha

   The 3,100m pass and the 108 chortens; Punakha Dzong in late-afternoon light at the river confluence.

6. Day 6

   Punakha day

   Chimi Lhakhang in the morning; the Mo Chhu walk to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten; a long lunch; the suspension bridge in late light.

7. Day 7

   Up to Phobjikha — the high valley

   Over the Lawa La; Gangtey Monastery on the ridge; the cranes in late-afternoon if the date holds; the valley silence at the lodge.

8. Day 8

   Back to Paro

   The drive back over the passes; Kyichu Lhakhang in the afternoon; an early supper; the climb briefed for the morning.

9. Day 9

   The Tiger's Nest — and the flight back

   The dawn climb at your pace; lunch at the cafeteria; the descent; the dawn Drukair flight back the following morning.
